Terms and Conditions

These terms and conditions are for rental units. Lease or Buy with buyback units have slightly different conditions, especially in as far as insurance information is concerned.

Drivers License and Age

Drivers over 21 Years of age only. National Driver License is required. International Driver Licenses are not required, but OK if brought together with national license. For car rental there will be an additional charge of US$ 5.-- per day for drivers between 21 and 25 years of age.

Minimum Rental Days

7 days.

Unauthorized extension of the rental period

Should a customer keep the vehicle beyond the contracted period, the following charges will apply. For RV’s and Campervans US$ 30.-- for every hour or portion thereof that are overdue, US$ 300.-- for every day or portion thereof that are overdue. For cars US$ 10.-- per hour until the daily rate. However, if the customer contacts the rental station and obtains proper authorization to extend, only the regular rate will apply. (authorization of extension are granted on availability basis only).

Convenience Kits

The optional convenience kit can be booked on any vehicle. If it is booked on cars, it will also include a portable stove/icebox and a tent on request.

Preparation Fee

This fee is charged for per rental expenses: safety check /detail unit/document costs/free shuttle service etc. It is waived for rentals of at least 21 days or more. For rentals less than 21 days preparation fee is US$ 50.--. No preparation fee is charged, if customer does not need pickup and dropoff transfers. Full preparation fee is due when at least one transfer is included.

Transfers and office hours

STI INC provides free transfer from Oakland Airport, San Francisco and Oakland Airport Hotels at specified times only. For a US$ 55.-- surcharge per rentalgroup STI INC provides also transfers from downtown San Francisco. All other pickup locations possible on request only and surcharges are calculated individually. We also provide free Transfer from Hayward South Bart Station (15 walking minutes from our office).

NEW:

Overseas customer must not overnight anymore on arrival day. Same day pickup is possible. Just be aware, that transcontinental airlines arrive late in the afternoon and free transfer most of the time is not possible anymore. Customer must arrive not later than 11’00 AM at the airport to make it to the free shuttle. For late pickups on first day, customer must be on rental location not later than 16’00 o’clock.

For free transfer customer must call not later than the same morning between 0900 and 1000 o’clock and we will arrange a transfer. Usually transfers will be done between 1200h to 1300h on the first route and between 1400h to 1500h the second route if the first route is full. We reserve the right to change pickup time without prior notice.

Pickup hours: 12:00 to 5:00pm

Dropoff hours: 9:00 to 11:00am

There is no free transfer service for late dropoffs. (shuttle is leaving exactly 11:00h).

Customer should call location before coming on location even when customer is doing is own transfer.

No refund will be made for early returns, late pickups or any unused portion of rental.

For rentals in other stations customers will be given a voucher and contact information upon reservation.

Office hours are Monday to Saturday 9:00am to 5:00pm. Our office are closed on Sundays and the following holidays:

Liability Insurance

Secondary liability insurance with statutory limits is included in the daily rate.

Damage to vehicles and customers responsibility

RV’s and Campervans: Unlimited responsibility for negligent damage. "negligent damage" refers to accidents caused as a result of drivers negligence and includes but is not limited to: accidents occurring off road (in camping grounds, parking lots, service stations, unpaved roads), accidents while backing up, roof damage and undercarriage damage.

Cars: Unlimited responsibility for negligent damage. "negligent damage" refers to accidents caused as a result of drivers negligence and includes but is not limited to: accidents occurring off road (in camping grounds, parking lots, service stations, unpaved roads) and accidents while backing up.

Important: Customer is responsible for all damages that occurs, while customer is in violation of rental agreement.

CDR (Collision Damage Reduction)

RV’s and Campervans: CDR reduces renter’s responsibility, as set out in section above, from unlimited to US$ 1000.-- and for theft to US$ 2’000.--.

Cars: CDR reduces renter’s responsibility, as set out in section above, from unlimited to US$ 500.-- and for theft to US$ 1500.--.

VIP (Vacation Interruption Protection)

VIP already includes CDR. It additionally reduces the deductible on RV’s and Campervans to US$ 200.-- and on Cars to 100 deductible and theft to US$ 1’000.--.

As additional insurance, if renter’s vehicle is broken down by mechanical breakdown on the vehicle which requires more than 12 working hours to repair after it is reported to STI INC. or contractpartner, the renter will be reimbursed in addition to the daily rate for extra expenses for hotel rooms up to US$ 15.-- per driver per night and car rental up to US$ 25.-- per day per broken down unit to a maximum of US$ 1’000.--. Receipts for all incurred expenses must be presented for refund. No receipt = no refund.

In the event of an accident

The customer must obtain a local police or park ranger for proper police report. STI INC. or contractpartner must be notified the same day or the next business day. A full written report along with the other party’s name, address, phone number, driver license number and their insurance carrier with policy number on the supplied accident report form, will be required upon return of the vehicle. The other party is not legally allowed to refuse the information about his insurance. He has to give out the information. All documents relating to the accident must include Police identification no’s or codes. CDR/VIP coverage is VOID if there is no police report. It is the customers responsibility to get the Police report.

Mechanical breakdown

In the event of a mechanical breakdown and repairs are less than US$ 50.-- the customer is authorized to proceed with the repairs. If necessary repairs are over US$ 50.-- customer is not authorized to proceed with necessary repairs before consulting STI INC. or contractpartner. If breakdown occurs nighttime or on Sundays, call next business day as soon as possible. Customer must retain all receipt for refund. For renters of cars, there will be a 24 hours help line which provides towing around the clock.

No receipt = no refund

Maintenance and cleaning of vehicle

Customer is responsible to check all fluid levels at each refueling. Refills of all fluids (except gasoline) will be reimbursed at dropoff upon presentation of receipt. (no receipt = no refund). Gasoline expenses must be paid by renter. Units have to be returned with the same amount of fuel as when they were picked up, or a fueling charge will apply.

Vehicles (Motorhomes/Campervans/Sleepervans) must be returned clean. (the same as it was on pickup). Inside and outside. Customer has the option to return vehicle dirty and pay cleaning charges, of US$ 35.-- outside and US$ 75.-- inside .

Parking and Traffic violations

It is the customers responsibility to report and pay for all parking/traffic violations not later than at dropoff time. Failure to report these violations will result in an administrative fee of US$ 100.-- in addition to the ticket fine, (including all late charges and penalties).

Alaska/Yukon/Death Valley/Mexico

Alaska/Yukon/Death Valley are allowed and no surcharges apply under one condition. The renter has to tell us about his trip in these areas in advance, not later than at time of reservation, so that we can give him very important

information. The customer has no insurance coverage, if he does not report to us these trips. We allow trips to Mexico, if customers leaves us a deposit in the amount of the value of the vehicle.

Customer must notify us also in advance of the intention to travel into Mexico, so that we can explain him the special important conditions for Mexico.

Payments

Rental charges and other related charges must be received 30 days prior to departure. Shorter terms on request. If payments are not received when due, STI INC reserves the right to cancel the reservation.

We accept cash, traveler checks in US$ and VISA/MASTER/AMERICAN EXPRESS/DISCOVER card. No eurocheck or European currency is accepted on location. For advance payment we might accept bank wire transfers in Swiss Francs, and EURO. Please make special arrangement with us. We are not responsible for any exchange rate fluctuations for any creditcard transactions. STI INC requires a creditcard slip to be signed by customer as security. An authorization in the amount of at least the deductible or higher will be made at location. A credit card is mandatory for Deposit, even if payment is made with different means.

Cancellation Policy: Cancellation needs to be in writing. The day of receipt is the date the cancellation fee is calculated by:

- over 30 days prior to pickup 10% of rent (300.-- min.) US$ 50.--

- 30 days to 3 days before pickup 75% of rent US$ 200.--

- no show 100% of rent US$ 200.--

Confirmed oneway charges and special arrangement must always be paid. Modification are subject to a US$ 25.-- handling fee.

Substitution and price changes

If, for any reason beyond our control, the booked vehicle is not available, we reserve the right to substitute a higher rate vehicle at no additional cost. Should a lower rated vehicle be substituted, our liability is limited to the refund of the difference in daily rate of the two vehicles. We do reserve the right to change the price anytime for any reason we feel is necessary with no advance notice.
